Play after Play in 2008 - New Schedule

We want to inform you of some changes to our schedule in 2008:
We will now be holding Play after Play events every OTHER month.
Our next regular program will be held in February.
BUT - We will be holding ONE special show in January:
THE DRUM
A story from India
ONE SHOW ONLY - SUNDAY JANUARY 20TH AT 2PM (Doors open at 1:30)
At The Brooklyn Bay, 1825 SE Franklin, Bay K (see directions to the left)
Admission $6 /ticket

This show is in conjunction with a special event that weekend. Fred Donaldson, the person we trained with in the Original Play (the play after the play) will be holding a playshop training. I will be sending more information on the playshop soon.
Please note that we are no longer able to offer the family rate.

First the Play
A heartwarming tale of faery ingenuity and human generosity. A poor woodcutter rescues a forest faery from harm and is given in return the gift of a single wish. He must find a way to use his gift to benefit all of his loved ones. Filled with movement and music, this sweet story will captivate children and adults alike. Most appropriate for ages 2-9 years old.

Then the "Play"
After the performance, the children are invited to play with the performers! Known as "Original Play", this is an opportunity to the kids to interact with the performers one on one. The kids are invited to come onto the mats and crawl, roll and tumble on, under and all around the performers. See website www.originalplay.com for more info.

This is the story of an old woman who needs cheering up. A young man comes along and helps her see that she has always had everything she needs. Together they make a delicious pot of Nail Soup. Filled with movement and music, this sweet story will captivate children and adults alike. Most appropriate for ages 2-9 years old.

After the performance, the children are invited to play with the performers! Known as "Original Play", this is an opportunity to the kids to interact with the performers one on one. There was once a boy who loved to play the flute. One day he forgets his flute in the yam field. To get it back he must face the stinky spirits that inhabit the field at night. His honesty and good manners serve him well and he receives more in return than he expected. Filled with movement and music, this humorous story will captivate children and adults alike. Most appropriate for ages 2-9 years old.

The mandarin’s daughter is beautiful beyond words. Her father keeps her confined to the palace and she longs for a fuller life. A young boatman’s heartfelt flute playing enchants the mandarin’s daughter. She soon learns that he is not what what she first envisioned and that love matters more than beauty.
